Kung Fu Life

Kung Fu Life is an integral part of the Moy Yat Ving Tsun experience. Many students first join to learn self-defense, but over time they discover that the deeper value comes from the lifestyle and community built around the art.

In this tradition, the relationship between Sifu and student goes beyond instruction. Depending on age and experience, a Sifu may take on a role similar to that of a mentor or father figure. Fellow students become kung fu brothers and sisters, creating a strong sense of connection and extended family. Outside of class, students and the Sifu spend time together, sharing knowledge and strengthening those bonds.

Students also help care for the school through chores, projects, and other responsibilities. This creates a greater sense of involvement and allows each person to feel like an important part of the school’s growth and success.

These traditions are rooted in Chinese culture and are designed to enrich the learning process. The goal is not only to develop physical skill, but to use kung fu as a way to improve and strengthen one’s life as a whole.
